CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - The Department of Nephrology at MUSC raised funds for Families Helping Families on Thursday.
The idea for the bake sale came from an employee who wanted to raise money for a local organization this holiday season.
"We have so many children that we see come through here - we have a lot of underpriviliged families that come through. It breaks our heart when we see them walk through and we know that they need things, so we thought this would be a great opportunity to give back to those kids so they could have a happy Christmas too," said Elizabeth Shewfelt, Program Coordinator for the Division of Nephrology.
The bake sale profits totaled $421, which is enough to sponsor four families.
