Haley invites SC to Christmas Open House

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Gov. Nikki Haley is having a Christmas party, and South Carolina is invited.

The Haley family is opening up the Governor's Mansion for a Christmas Open House on Monday.

The free event is open to the public, and reservations aren't required. Haley encourages guests to bring canned goods for Harvest Hope Food Bank and school supplies for the Original Six Foundation to donate to public school students.

The Columbia Garden Club started decorating the Governor's Mansion a week ago. There are three live Christmas trees from the South Carolina Christmas Tree Growers Association and poinsettias grown by Future Farmers of America.

Guided Christmas tours of the mansion are also available by reservation only Tuesday through Thursday.
