File Photo (WCIV)NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Local leaders are looking at Charleston's major traffic issues and they want your input.
Members of The Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments plan to take a close look at Interstate 26.
They're asking the public to come to the North Charleston City Hall on Tuesday Dec. 11 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
They'll talk about a two year I-26 Regional Fixed Guideway Transit Alternatives Analysis study to improve traffic flow between Summerville and Charleston. Details will be shared about the study's process and timeline, the project study area, and the various transit options available for consideration.
"Our region has long recognized the need for transit alternatives along the I-26 Corridor," said
Ron Mitchum, executive director of the BCDCOG. "Multiple plans and studies have been
conducted that have identified transit investments in the I-26 Corridor that would improve
mobility. By implementing the I-26 Alternatives Analysis study, we are focused on defining the
most effective and sustainable transit solution for the residents of and visitors to the Charleston region."
