CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - A man was arrested Saturday for punching a cop in Marion Square.

Police say an off-duty officer called a tip to police about four people drinking alcohol in Marion Square around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police approached a female who said the three others left the park, but one of the men was at the Circle K on the corner of Meeting and Calhoun streets.

When the man returned, police asked to speak with him. That's when they say the man swung at one officer, hitting him in the left side of the forehead.

Two officers tried to restrain the man on the ground. Police say it took a third officer using her taser before the suspect was compliant.

According to police, 33-year-old Christopher David Browder was arrested and charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer.

Bond was set at $25,000 for each count.
