CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Congressman Jim Clyburn presented a $25,000 donation from his philanthropic foundation on Monday.
The donation from the James E. Clyburn Research and Scholarship Foundation will establish the Sabra C. Slaughter Ph.D. Health Equity and Wellness Endowment to support research and scholarships.
The Wellness Endowment will be part of the Southeastern Virtual Institute for Health Equity and Wellness - Also known as SE VIEW.
The first phase of SE VIEW has implemented 12 community-based research and service outreach programs.
In an effort to strengthen and expand its scope, SE VIEW incorporated six additional projects in Phase II. Each phase is designed to reduce the burden of health disparities that prevent enlistment in the U.S. Armed Services.
