Tri-county council studying ways to improve I-26 corridor
DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) – A tri-county group has been tasked with finding solutions to transportation on the Interstate 26 corridor between Summerville and Charleston.
The Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments held a public information meeting on Tuesday to kick off the two-year study. The public was invited to the event, which kicked off a new study that should help determine how best to ease traffic in the area.
"Really, the I-26 corridor is heavily congested as well as other corridors throughout the area. This study will really look at all of the possibilities and see what the best alternative is," said CARTA's executive director, Christine Wilkinson.
