Traffic rerouted after fatal accident in West Ashley

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston police said one person died in an accident at the intersection of Main Road and Highway 17 on Monday afternoon.

A Charleston Police Spokesman says a semi-truck and a car collided at 4:34 p.m.  The northbound lane of Highway 17 was closed to traffic, and traffic was being rerouted around the accident.

The scene was cleared around 8:30 p.m., officials said. 

The coroner on Tuesday identified the victim as 71-year-old Ann Schjorring.
