Phillip Lowe (Source: Google)COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCIV) – A Florence lawmaker has prefiled a bill to the State House that would allow public school employees who have concealed weapons permits to carry a firearm on a school's campus.
According to the bill prefiled Tuesday, the employee would be "subject to certain requirements."
Rep. Phillip Lowe, a Republican who represents Darlington and Florence counties, is the primary sponsor of the bill.
According to the bill, public school employees who meet the criteria must: keep the firearm on them and concealed at all times; use only bullets that will prevent ricochet; give written notice to the principal their intent to carry a firearm; pass precision marksman certification by state police; and has no history of violence.

Lowe's office has not responded to requests for comment.
