WADMALAW ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- A driver ran off the road on Wadmalaw Island on Christmas Day, officials said. Crews were able to free the passenger from the wrecked truck.

According to Charleston County deputies, the accident happened on Bear's Bluff Road near Hart's Bluff Road shortly before 2 p.m.

A passenger in the Toyota truck had non-life-threatening injuries, but officials said that person would be airlifted to a nearby hospital once crews got the person out of the vehicle.

A child was also in the truck, deputies said. However, the child only sustained minor injuries and was only transported by EMS as a precaution.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, officials said.
