MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Wind-blown power lines created backups on Highway 17 in Mt. Pleasant Wednesday evening.
According to officials, the intersection at Shelmore and Johnnie Dodds boulevards was shut down while crews repaired the lines. Initially, officials said there was a blown transformer in the area.
Officials said at 6 p.m. that power had been restored to everyone in the area.
Traffic was backed up in both north and southbound directions. Police officers were directing traffic onto frontage roads around the area.
At the scene, few businesses appeared to be without power. Other news agencies reported downed lines in the area, but none were visible
Officials have not said how long the intersection would be shut down or what caused the transformer to blow.
