Seven people were killed and 315 injured during the Christmas holiday driving period, Pennsylvania State Police said in a press release.
State police troopers investigated a total of 1,336 accidents between December 23 through 25. During that same time period last year, state police investigated half as many accidents.
Two of the seven people who died were not wearing seatbelts; one of the seven deaths was alcohol-related. State police investigated a total of 108 alcohol-related accidents and made
348 arrests for driving under the influence.
These numbers do not include crashes that other law-enforcement agencies responded to.
