Victim of hit-and-run dies

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Dorchester County Coroner's office said Thursday night one of seven pedestrians struck by a vehicle in North Charleston has died from his injuries.

According to the coroner's office, 23-year-old Jorge Luis Martinez died from multiple blunt force trauma when he was struck by a car outside  a North Charleston bar December 15.

Alvaro Zuniga-Rivas, 22, was arrested by Dorchester County deputies and North Charleston police in connection with the hit-and-run outside Bryndis Discotheque and Bar, located at 3630 Ashley Phosphate Road.

Investigators said witnesses told them Zunigas-Rivas backed his vehicle out before slamming on the gas and driving into the crowd of people.
