CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Some of the country's prominent leaders in business, finance, education, religion and government are gathering in Charleston this weekend for the 32nd Reneissance Weekend.

Former U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James, Philip Lader, started the Reneissance Weekends to get dialogue going among the brightest minds in the country.

Some of the hottest topics in conversation nationally will highlight this year's event.

"Although renaissance weekends have always been nonpartisan and include people from very different walks of life, there's no question that the "fiscal cliff" and this fiscal mess that our country finds itself in will be a very common subject for discussion.  We have some real authorities here to discuss it - former Chairman of the President's Council of Economic Advisors, former Vice Chairmen of the Federal Reserve Board, CEOs, venture capitalists, most importantly a number of well-informed teenagers, college students, young-adults who understand the real significance of this fiscal mess for their generation," said Lader.

There will be over 500 programs over four and half days where major policy issues will be discussed at Charleston Place Hotel.

"It's always wonderful to have so many friends come to our Charleston - recognized this year as the world's best city and certainly a top destination, if you will in the United States. But they're here for celebration, shopping on King Street, visitation of the historic plantations, and great old houses, but also for serious discussion on how to make this country better," said Lader.
