Charleston, S.C. (WCIV) -- Before the ball drops at midnight and 2013 arrives, the Lowcountry New Year's celebrations will be starting at noon.

"We celebrate New Year's Eve all before bedtime, so kids can celebrate before they go to sleep, and they won't have to stay up until midnight," said McCown Bridges, Marketing Director for the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry.

Bridges said they are hosting a special Noon Year's Eve for kids that's free with admission to the museum.

"We'll have cut-your-own-confetti stations, so you can have confetti to throw up and the ball drops. We have New Year's Eve hats that you can decorate with jewels and glitter," said Bridges.

Bridges said there are a few other surprises she's not at liberty to share with the public, but said parents and kids will enjoy.

"Most parents are surprised that there is a noon Year's Eve event or New Year's Eve event for kids because usually this holiday is more focused on adults," said Bridges.

Chances are on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day millions will be tuning in to bowl games and maybe ordering some pizza.

"We have a lot of delivery that goes out, people that don't want to cook. They are having a bowl party at their house, and we make a lot of party trays and party platters. We send them out tray, after tray, after tray," said Owner of Steel City Pizza Adam Carb.

He said after years of feeding hungry bowl game customers they have it down to a science.

"Definitely staffing up, being prepared, having heaver prep done and just being more efficient," said Carb.

If you want to celebrate the New Year outdoors dancers, singers and musicians, will be providing free entertainment in Marion Square starting in the late afternoon until 10:30 p.m.

If you leave downtown Charleston early enough you can celebrate at the Edge of America with the Flip-Flops drop on Folly Beach.
