FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Times Square New Year's Eve bash is great, but it's missing two things --sand and flip flops.
On Folly Beach Monday night, residents and revelers participated in the Second Annual Flip-Flop Drop. The 8-foot-tall flops and the drop were the idea of the mayor's wife, Charlotte Goodwin.
Organizers call it the perfect way for Folly to ring in the New Year.
"I've noticed a lot of small towns have their unique, well they drop something, so we decided the flip flop would be appropriate for Folly Beach and we hope it'll be a tradition for a long time," said organizer Jim Nicklaus.
Several hundred people attended the event.
