SPARTANBURG, S.C. (SOCON) – College of Charleston senior Andrew Lawrence has been named the Southern Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for all games played Dec. 18 through Jan. 1.
Lawrence helped the Cougars go 4-0 over the holidays with wins over Old Dominion (76-65), Coastal Carolina (60-51), Vermont (62-50) and Marist (85-75).
Lawrence averaged 16.8 points, 4.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals during the Cougars' four victories. He shot 52.5 percent from the field and connected on 10-of-21 3-point attempts. The London, England, native paced the Cougars with a game-high 21 points at Vermont (Dec. 29) and 22 at Marist (Dec. 31). Lawrence recorded six assists in the win at Old Dominion.
Following the four games over the holidays, Lawrence is just 73 points away from becoming the 30th Cougar to reach 1,000 career points.
The point guard ranks 12th in the SoCon in scoring (14.0 ppg) and is third in assists (4.0 apg). Lawrence also ranks third in the league in steals (1.6 spg) and seventh in made 3-pointers per game (2.0 3fg).
The Cougars (9-4, 1-0 SoCon) return to action Saturday when they host Furman (3-9, 0-1 SoCon).

Mason, Western Carolina's Trey Sumler and Wofford's Spencer Collins.
