GADSDEN, Ala. (WBMA) -- A Georgia man is facing sexual abuse charges in Etowah County, Ala.

George Michael Smith, of Eatonton, Ga., was arrested on an indictment for sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12. He is charged in connection to an incident that took place July 17, 2012 in Gadsden, Ala.

Smith is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $10,000 cash bond. The charge is a felony for the 30-year-old man.

"Smith was arrested by the Putman County Sheriff's Office in Georgia," said investigator Haydyn Hedgspeth. "He worked with a traveling carnival, which moved frequently."
