GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- A local law firm is working to reward the Goose Creek Gators for a well-played football season.
Joye law Firm is sponsoring a banquet to honor the football team. Attorneys there said the team was mistreated when it was disqualified from post-season play by the South Carolina High School League.
"(They were the) No. 11 team in the country, 26 straight wins. Just a phenomenal football team and a great group of kids. And, the idea was, 'Let's do something for the kids so that their last memory of high school football at Goose Creek is not this negative situation, based on the high school league's ruling. But, something where the community can come back and say we appreciate what you've done," said Ken Harrell, a partner at the firm.
Harrell said there will also be a presentation of rings specially designed for each player.
