NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Authorities accused Raheim Bradley of burning down a Mount Pleasant home Wednesday night. Homeowner Jackie Williams said she knew Bradley; he had been to her home several times and he was friends with her son.
"I like the young man from what I can see. But he is not a bad person. He's very manageable. I just don't understand what could've gone through his head if he did indeed do this crime," she said.
Bradley pleaded his case in bond court Friday.
"I have a heart and I would never do nothing like this," he said.
Family and friends attended for support and his Wando High School teachers sent letters that said he was passing and had good attendance.
"Basically you've really pulled yourself up by your bootstraps," Magistrate Linda Lombard said.
According to court documents, a man saw Bradley set the Rifle Range Road house on fire. Authorities charged him with arson in the third degree and burglary in the first degree.
Williams said her home was in foreclosure, but she and her family of four have lived in it for the last three years. She came to court for answers, but didn't get any.
"No one is talking. But if he is the one that did this crime, then I'm willing to bet some kind of altercation took place," she said.
Williams said the burnt remains revealed a crime she couldn't understand.
"I am disappointed but the truth will come out. I have every faith in that," she said.
Williams said the Red Cross got her and her husband a hotel room until Saturday morning. After that, they didn't know where they would go.
