BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- A dog that bit a child has a family once scrutinized by authorities for a dog mauling back under investigation, officials said.

According to the Department of Social Services, another dog owned by Quintin and Chantel McGrew bit another one of their children. The incident happened around Jan. 1, officials said.

Officials said the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office received an information-only report from DSS stating that the family's 3-year-old child had bite marks.

The DSS report states the child has a puncture wound on his right cheek and the left side of his nose.

So far, no charges have been filed in the incident and authorities are still investigating.

"Any time there's a charge of abuse like that, we will investigate," said Dan Moon with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. "It if's a founded complaint, we'll take action."

DSS officials were not available for comment. It is unclear if the McGrews children have been removed from the home.

The condition of the injured child was not available.

The McGrews lost their 2-month-old son in April after a dog in their home dismembered and killed the child.

Quintin McGrew was charged in the incident, but the case has not yet gone to trial.

The second incident did not happen in the same home where the mauling took place.
