NORTH CHARLESTON S.C. (WCIV) -- United flight 834 made an unexpected landing at Charleston International Airport after the 757 experienced a "mechanical issue."

According to a statement from United's media relations department, the flight was diverted due to a loss of oil pressure.

There were no injuries and all passengers are being put up at local hotels by United Airlines, airport officials said.

The flight was heading from Orlando, Fla. to Washington, D.C.

The statement continued: "The Boeing 757 aircraft with 177 passengers landed safely. The remainder of the flight was canceled and customers were accommodated overnight in hotels with arrangements for travel to Washington Dulles on a Thursday morning flight."
