COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP/WCIV) - The executive director of the South Carolina Republican Party is leaving to work for new U.S. Sen. Tim Scott.
State GOP Chairman Chad Connelly said Thursday that Matt Moore would be Scott's state director.
Moore starts his new role next week.
Alex Stroman, who has been the SC GOP's political director, takes over as executive director and party spokesman.
Current member services director Hope Walker is assuming Stroman's former role.
Scott was sworn in last week as South Carolina's newest U.S. Senator. Gov. Nikki Haley appointed him to fill the next two years of the term of Jim DeMint, who resigned to take the helm of the Heritage Foundation in Washington.
Other senior staff hires include:
Rich Dunn : Chief of Staff
Dunn served as Political Director at the National Republican
Senatorial Committee, where he provided strategic political counsel to U.S.
Senate candidates during the 2010 and 2012 cycles.
Jennifer DeCasper : Deputy Chief of Staff
DeCasper also held this position in the Senator's House office.
Joe McKeown : Executive Director
McKeown served as Chief of Staff in
Senator Scott's House office. McKeown, a Mount
Pleasant resident, managed Senator Scott's successful bid for Congress and has
been involved in his campaigns for over fifteen years.
Kimberly Wallner :
Wallner joins the office after serving as Legislative
Director to former Senator Jim DeMint.
