Police make arrest in Sawmill Branch Bike Trail attack

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- Summerville Police have made an arrest in the sexual assault that happened on the Sawmill Branch Bike Trail last week.

The attack on a 17-year-old girl happened Wednesday while she was out for a jog.

Police say after they released a sketch of the suspect, information came in that led to the identification and arrest of 20-year-old Michael Glen Evans of Summerville.

Capt. Jon Rogers with the Summerville PD credits "several tips" that came in after the story and sketch of the suspect were released.

Evans is charged with criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
