Stingrays statement on racial slur incident

Posted: Updated:

North Charleston, S.C. The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), issued a statement today following the ECHL's announcement of the fine and suspension to Wheeling Nailers forward Keven Veilleux.

"We are disappointed with the events that took place on the ice in Wheeling Sunday afternoon," said Stingrays President Rob Concannon. "As an organization, we stand behind Scooter Vaughan. He is a true professional and we are proud that he is a part of our organization. Hopefully this will be a lesson and a learning experience for our society. We respect the ECHL's decision and we look forward to putting this situation behind us."
