MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) -- Two people implicated in a pharmacy burglary in the early hours of Wednesday morning were caught when they were involved in a car accident, police said.

According to police, Carrieann Collette and Eric Humphries were taken to Trident Hospital after the accident. Collette was charged with DUI and taken to the Berkeley County Jail. Once Humphries was discharged from the hospital he was also taken to the jail, officials said.

Both were charged with second-degree burglary and drug charges are forthcoming, according to police.

Police said they started investigating an alarm call around 4 a.m. Wednesday at the Delta Pharmacy on East Main Street. They found the glass on the front door had been smashed and the pharmacy area ransacked.

Evidence from the burglary was in the crashed car, police said.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
