North Charleston to hold first MLK parade Saturday

Posted: Updated:

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- North Charleston will hold its first Martin Luther King Jr. parade next Saturday.

The celebration will kick off at 11 a.m. at Rivers and Durant avenues.

On Thursday, the MLK celebration committee explained why the event is so special.

"First of all, it's our first and we're actually able to get together and embrace the communities. And the city of North Charleston has so many, we have several, about 13 or 14 African-American communities that are here. We want to be able to embrace them and embrace all the communities," said Sam Dennis.
