Officials: Dorchester sheriff's office, courthouse reopened after bomb threat

Posted: Updated:

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Summerville branch of the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office and the Summerville courthouse on Deming way were reopened around 10 a.m. Friday after officials cleared a possible threat, officials said.

The sheriff's office and the courthouse had been shut down after a woman told officials that there was an explosive device inside her vehicle. Crews from the sheriff's office and bomb experts from the State Law Enforcement Division cleared and removed the car, officials said.

Officials have not released the identity of the woman or said what kind of device, if any, was found in her car.
