Police: James Island hostage situation ends peacefully

Posted: Updated:

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- Two people were taken into custody Friday afternoon after a stand-off with police on James Island. One of the people, a woman, was taken to a nearby hospital.

Officials did not comment on what injuries she had, if any.

According to police, 34-year-old Christopher Glenn Mishowe and his live-in girlfriend were involved in the incident. A similar incident involving the same couple happened in 2011, police said. In that incident, Mishowe was charged with several crimes.

Mishowe was charged with kidnapping and criminal domestic violence of a high an aggravated nature for Friday's incident.

Police said a man had possibly been holding his girlfriend against her will at a home on James Island.

According to police, officials received a telephone call around 1:30 p.m. alerting them to the situation on Meander Row. A SWAT team and hostage negotiators were at the scene, officials said.

Police officials said they are still trying to sort out what happened at the James Island home.
