Pit bull found drowning, near death a year ago ready for adoption

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Last year a pit bull was found abandoned and drowning in Noisette Creek after someone weighed him down with rocks and threw him in the water.

When Alton was rescued, he weighed on 20 pounds and was near death. Now, he's healthy and ready for adoption.

"He needs someone who has training that knows how to train a dog, someone who's willing to take time and effort and be gentle and kind to him as he learns," said Kay Hyman, the director of community outreach for Charleston Animal Society.

Hyman said Alton does very well with other dogs, but is not as good with cats.

If you're interested in adopting Alton or any animal, call the Charleston Animal Society at 843-747-4849.
