Q. I recently visited my wedding florist about the cost of my wedding flowers, and she informed me that the bride's family pays for the bridesmaid bouquets, the groom's boutonniere, and cake flowers; and the groom's family pays for the bridal bouquet, wedding corsages for the mothers and grandmothers, and the groomsmen boutonnieres. Is this true?

A. Your florist has given you a traditional breakdown of who pays for what when it comes to flowers. But that doesn't mean you have to do it that way.

Maybe you've collectively decided that you and your fiance will be responsible for the flower budget, or perhaps his parents are giving you a chunk of cash to spend on blooms.

If you really want to split things up financially according to your florist's guidelines, by all means do so, but don't feel as though you must.
