CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Has your life been touched by heart disease or stroke? The American Heart Association wants to share your story!
The American Heart Association, MUSC Health, and ABC News 4 are holding a casting call for spokespeople who, by sharing their experiences, could help save lives.
"We'll take these stories and use them locally," said AHA Marketing and Communications Director Robyn Reese. "Then we'll send them on to the national level and women will be chosen as local and national spokespeople."
Go Red For Women is calling on Lowcountry women to share their personal
story and participate in the 2013 Go Red For Women Casting Call on
Thursday, January 24 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Francis Marion
Hotel.
They're looking for compelling stories and women who can help ignite action and inspire others. The stories will be used locally and nationally for the Go Red for Women initiative.
"We want to spread awareness and inspire others in the community," said Reese. "People don't realize that heart disease is the number one killer of women so if we can find women locally who have been affected by it and share their story, what an impact would that make in the community."
In addition to the casting call, MUSC will be providing free blood pressure screenings and vendors scheduled to be on site include CosBar and Strawberry Blonde Salon.
