CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Medical University of South Carolina announced Thursday it had secured a new Vice President of Clinical Operations and Executive Director.
Dr. Patrick Cawley, who had been the chief medical officer of the Medical University Hospital Authority, was accepted unanimously by the school's board of trustees.
Cawley will remain an associate professor of medicine at MUSC, the university said.
He is a certified physician executive through the American College of Physician Executives and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is a fellow in the Liberty Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. He has been named one of America's Best Doctors.
Cawley lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife and three children.
