CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police arrested a Citadel mall employee on Thursday for falsely reporting that the business had been robbed Wednesday night.

Police have charged two people, 19-year-old Hasan Mungo and 21-year-old Cavin Eric Lavon Coleman, with the robbery. Police said Mungo was the employee of Gold Buyers of America who reported the robbery.

Both men are being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Mungo told police late Wednesday night that an unknown black male walked up to him, hit him in the face and stole a bank bag.

During the investigation, officers determined the story was faked and that Coleman and Mungo had conspired to rob the business.
