DARLINGTON, S.C. (WCIV) - The Hartsville High School football team celebrated their state championship victory Friday. The team was awarded their medallions at a ceremony at the school's football stadium.

The players presented one of the medals to the father of Ronald ROuse, the 18-year-old defensive lineman who collapsed on the field and died this year.

"I know that my son Ronald he is looking down and he's smiling right now. He's up there with God and he's giving God the praise for everything . I mean the love from Hartsville has been so overwhelming.," his father said.

The Byerly Foundation also presented the school with a $500,000 check to build a field house for the stadium.

The community is working to match the funds for the $1 million facility.
