Police charge woman with DUI in Sunday's fatal crash
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - A woman was charged with two felonies after a fatal accident on I-526 Sunday.
According to North Charleston police, Lisa Pistolis was charged with felony DUI with death and felony DUI with great bodily injury. Her bond was set at more than $73,000 for the two offenses. She has not yet bonded out of jail, according to records.
Police said Pistolis was traveling eastbound on I-526 when she drifted off the highway and into the median. She over-corrected, which led to a collision with another driver. The force of the impact flipped the second vehicle, police said.
The driver of the second car was ejected from the vehicle. The coroner identified the victim as 35-year-old Serjei Cahuantzi from Charleston. Cahuantzi died on the scene.
A second person in the vehicle was taken to Medical University Hospital for treatment.
Pistolis was also charged with another DUI last February.
