BAMBERG, S.C. (WCIV) - A Bamberg man was arrested by state police agents Friday in connection with an incident involving a child, State Law Enforcement officials said.

According to SLED, 38-year-old Andrew Williams was charged with one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and once count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The first charge is a felony that carries up to a 15-year prison sentence. The second is a misdemeanor that carries up to a $3,000 penalty and a three-year prison sentence.

According to the affidavit provided by SLED, Williams met a 13-year-old girl at a flea market, took her home and had sex with her.

The affidavit goes on to state that Williams was caught when he dropped the teen girl off at school. A person who knew Williams saw that he signed her into school using a fake name and called administrators.

Police were called and the teen told officers that she had called Williams to set up a meeting at the flea market. The girl also described the sex acts she and Williams performed, according to the affidavit.

Williams is being held in the Bamberg County Detention Center.
