New website gathers data on Charleston region

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Local governments and the business community are making it easier for people to find out vital statistics about the Charleston area.

The Charleston Regional Competiveness Center on Wednesday launched a new website that gathers in one place information about the region including data on everything from wages and income to industry and demographics.

It also offers information on such things as crime rates, imports and exports, agriculture production and the number of people on Social Security.

All the information is free at http://www.charlestonregionaldata.com .

The Competiveness Center is a collaboration of the local council of governments, the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Charleston Regional Development Alliance and the Trident Workforce Investment Board.
