The new RMHCC billboard on I-26 (provided)CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston (RMHCC) has started a campaign that they hope will have the Lowcountry wearing red...shoes that is.
Part of the year-long campaign is to display 12 different
local celebrities, wearing Ronald's Big Red Shoes, on billboards around the
Charleston area.
The first billboard went up Wednesday and shows Darius Rucker in the shoes. The billboard is located on I-26 right before
Cosgrove Exit heading West towards Columbia.
What started as a 12 bedroom house almost 30 years ago has
grown into 27 bedrooms, seven of which are for children who have received
transplants. The RMHCC House is open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
The billboards also direct passers by to the website www.wearredshoes.com where they can find more information on wearing
red shoes, donating, volunteering and ways to help raise money for the House.
