CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Coast Guard had to pull a man out of the pluff mud Thursday after his sailboat got stuck.
Charleston Fire Department, Coast Guard and Charleston County Rescue responded to the water rescue off of Lockwood near the City Marina.
Once the sailboat got stuck in the mud, the man got out and also became stuck. Battalion Chief Mike Julazadeh said rescue boats had a hard time getting to the man because the area is so shallow.
The victim was pulled from the mud and was
checked out by EMS.
Julazadeh said traffic on Lockwood near Mason Prep is moving slowly and down to one lane because of emergency vehicles.
Please use caution in the area until the traffic has cleared.
