RIDGEVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) - A man was shot and killed late Friday night in Ridgeville, the Dorchester County coroner said Saturday.
According to Coroner Chris Nesbit, an autopsy revealed 64-year-old Jimmy Edwards died around 11 p.m. of multiple gunshot wounds to the back of the head.
Family members said they spoke to Edwards on the phone shortly before the shooting and heard gunshots around 10:50 p.m., Nesbit said. The family did not think anything of the shots until Edwards did not come home.
According to the coroner, they went looking for the 64-year-old and found him on the ground.
The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting.
