SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- Flames sparked at a Summerville home early Monday morning.

Officials on the scene say the initial call came in around 4:30 a.m.

Fire investigators say there is heavy damage to the home on Bryan Street. They say the home is unlivable. The street was blocked off for a time during the initial firefight, but it has since been reopened.

Officials say at least one person lives in the home. That victim was able to escape. There were no injuries in the fire.

According to Capt. Jon Rogers of the Summerville Police Department, the fire is being investigated as suspicious but no arrests have been made. Fire investigators arrived at the fire scene late Monday afternoon and were still investigating Monday evening.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
