CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - The woman who was stopped by a man police said was impersonating an officer told police again Tuesday that she did not know the man who stopped her.

Jason Stoddard, the Moncks Corner man charged with impersonating an officer, argues that the two are friends. Stoddard said Monday night that he was trying to pull a prank on the woman.

He called the entire incident a big misunderstanding.

Stoddard said the woman was backing up his side of the story and apologized for his arrest. Police said that is not true.

However, police believe the two do not know each other and that Stoddard likely got her information off of Facebook.

Police said they have not been able to link Stoddard to the woman in any way, adding people should use caution when dealing with Stoddard.
