CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Two Charleston police officers were involved in a car accident on I-526 near the Westmoreland Bridge on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the state Highway Patrol, the two officers had stopped to help a stranded motorist when another driver lost control of her car, hit a guard rail and then the two patrol cars before coming to a stop.
The officers were not in their vehicles at the time of the accident, officials said.
Traffic was backed up for about 40 minutes. The woman who hit the two patrol cars was not charged in the accident.
