CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - Police said last week the gun used outside Ashley Hall did not fire because there was no round in the chamber, adding that there was nothing wrong with the gun.
The problem, police said, was with 28-year-old Alice Boland, who did not know how to properly operate a firearm. She allegedly pointed the gun at two school officials and pulled the trigger repeatedly before the school was locked down and police moved in to subdue her.
There were 50 children and school officials outside the school at the time of the incident.
She claimed repeatedly in bond court that the gun was defective and malfunctioned.
She remains in jail on attempted murder charges with a $900,000 bond.
