Weather Update: Wet Roads, Warm-Up Expected in Tulsa Area

Posted: Updated:

Overnight lows did not go as low as forecast Tuesday, meaning that roadways in the metro area have stayed wet and not icy.

Yet, an occasional patch of black ice can't be ruled out on some bridges and overpasses in rural areas, especially to the west of Tulsa where more snow stuck.

Light rain and snow ended overnight, with only a few areas in the Tulsa metro picking up a light dusting- mainly on the grassy surfaces and cars.

Expect a nice warm-up today, followed by a cool-down for the end of the week and beginning of the weekend.

Today: Morning clouds, then becoming mostly sunny and milder. Winds: W 5-15 mph. High in Tulsa: 51.

Tonight: Clear and cold. Winds: SW 5-15 mph. Low in Tulsa: 32.

Tips for Driving in Winter Weather

Stay at least 200 feet behind road-clearing equipment; crews need room to maneuver and can engage plowing or spreading materials without notice.

Allow extra space between vehicles, so there is adequate distance for braking in wet and icy conditions.

Be aware of "black ice," which looks wet on the roadway, but is actually a thin layer of ice.

Please be patient, plan trips ahead and allow extra time to reach destination.
