Sullivan's Island school case in hands of judge now

Posted: Updated:

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) - Lawyers said Thursday the argument surrounding the building of a bigger Sullivan's Island Elementary School comes down to power.

For the first time, lawyers on both sides made presentations before a judge.

Islanders Against a Bigger School argue that Sullivan's Island Town Council does not have the jurisdiction to make building and design approvals without oversight.

The town argues the project was governed by statewide standards and is, therefore, exempt from normal town procedures.

A judge will decide whether to dismiss the case at a later date.
