CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Elizabeth Colbert Busch has dreamed of running for office since childhood, and she's making that a reality with her congressional campaign.
She's best known nationally as the sister of comedian Stephen Colbert. But she says she's not worried his fame will overshadow her campaign. She says that when voters learn about her in the race for South Carolina's vacant 1st District seat, it will be about her candidacy.
Stephen Colbert says that as a brother, he will help as he can, but he would never use his show, "The Colbert Report," to get his sister elected. He says her job is to run for Congress, and his job is to make jokes. He says he won't mention his sister's campaign on TV - unless, of course, she does something funny.
