JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- The man accused of killing a Johns Island woman last weekend will go through bond court on Sunday, officials announced Friday.

Charleston County deputies early Sunday morning found Timothy Wright, the man they think shot and killed a woman late last Saturday night on Johns Island. He has been hospitalized since his capture, which led to a delay in a bond hearing.

Police charged Wright Sunday with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Deputies said they captured Wright around 1 a.m. after a manhunt that lasted almost seven hours. He was taken to a nearby hospital for medical clearance due to injuries Wright had sustained. Deputies did not know if he got the injuries during the alleged murder or as a result of the chase, they said.

According to deputies, deputies were dispatched to Betsy Kerrison Parkway around 6:30 p.m. Saturday in reference to a shooting. Once there, they found a woman with a fatal gunshot wound.

The coroner identified the victim as 37-year-old Melinda Ford of Johns Island.

Deputies identified the suspect as Wright, saying that he was last seen wearing a camouflage jacket and blue jeans.

Deputies were told Wright was driving a white truck. Officials tried to initiate a traffic stop on a truck matching the description shortly after the shooting, but it sped off, deputies said.

Wright drove down Bohicket Road to Dunmovin Drive, crashed through a ball field's gate on Dunmovin Road and started running, according to deputies.

"We got a phone call that told us to stay in the house, that there was a fugitive," said Cheryl Bishop who lives right behind the ball fields. "It was scary because we are here by ourselves and you think what can happen they can come in your house or something."

According to Bishop, her grandson just finished playing in the park about 30 minutes before the incident.
