NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - A man told North Charleston police he was shot while driving on Interstate 26 on Monday.

According to police, the man told officers a black car pulled along side his car and opened fire. The man was hit in the left thigh, police said, and taken to Medical University Hospital.

Police said the shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. near the I-26 westbound interchange with Highway 76. While officers responded to the area, a second call to police said the victim went to Trident Medical Center.

Police said there were several bullet holes in the victim's car. The victim told police, according to a report, that another car had pulled up to his right side while the suspect was shooting at him from the left side.

Police have not released a description of the suspect's car.
