NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Cops are trying to track down the guy that ripped off a North Charleston convenience store early Thursday.

A spokesperson for the North Charleston Police Department says officers responded to the Fuel Express at 5995 Rivers Avenue around 1:30 a.m. in reference to an armed robbery.

The clerks on duty told police a white man wearing dark pants, a camouflage hat and white T-shirt pulled over his face, came into the store with a knife. The suspect went behind the counter and demanded money. The man was able to pick up money that was lying on top of a safe. He took off.

According to a police report, the suspect took off everything but his underwear as he ran off. His clothes were found across the street from the gas station.

Officers used K9 units to try to locate the suspect, tracked him to Hawthorne mobile home park  but then lost his scent. Witnesses told police they saw a white male run past them in nothing but his boxer shorts. POlice report the "whole event" was caught on video.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
